Biography

Robert Charlebois, (born June 25, 1944) is a Quebec author, composer, musician, performer and actor. He is an important figure in French language song. Born in Montreal, Quebec, amongst his best known songs are Lindberg, Je reviendrai à Montréal, Les talons hauts, J't'aime comme un fou, Dolorès, Tout Écartillé, Québec Love, Te V'là, Les Ailes d'un Ange, Miss Pepsi, c'est un Job, Mr. Plum, Fu Man Chu, Conception, Entre deux joints, Je rêve à Rio. His lyrics, often written in joual (basilectal Quebec French ), are funny utilising plays on words. He won the Sopot International Song Festival in 1970. Charlebois will be one of the four musicians who will be pictured on the second series of the Canadian Recording Artist Series to be issued by ?Canada Post stamps on July 2, 2009.
