Biography

Jacques Michel, born Jacques Rodrigue on 27 June 1941, is a singer-songwriter and musician from Quebec. Apart from obtaining releasing several successes as singer between 1967 and 1983, with songs like Sur un dinosaure, Jacques Michel writes for artists like Nicole Martin ("Comme une fenêtre ouverte", 1980) and Martine Chevrier ("Star", 1983). The French singer Isabelle Aubret also covered his some of his songs like"Amène-toi chez nous", "Il chantait" and "Pour toi" (also sang by Julie Arel). Later, Sylvain Cossette successfully covered "Pas besoin de frapper" and Gérard Lenorman chose "Amène-toi chez nous" in 1995. The 2004 Star Académie used Jacques Michel's "Un nouveau jour va se lever" as main a theme of the show.
