Born Troyal Garth Brooks on February 7th, 1962 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Garth Brooks is one of, if not the most successful American country music singer ever. He helped launch country music around the world. He has enjoyed a record-breaking career with regards to sales and concert-attendance throughout the 90s. He has released 19 records and 77 singles. He has won 2 Grammy Awards and 16 American Music Awards. His record sales as of 2010 exceed 200 million. Brooks retired from the studio and stage in 2001 to be able to spend more time with his family. In late 2009, it was announced that he would begin a 5-year concert deal in Las Vegas, Nevada with the Encore Hotel and Casino on the Vegas Strip.
