Biography

Édith Butler (born Marie Nicole Butler 27 July 1942 in Paquetville, New Brunswick) is an Acadian singer-songwriter and folklorist. She is known for her single "Paquetville". Her career began in the early 1960s with performances in Moncton, followed by national appearances on CBC Television's Singalong Jubilee. She took the leading role in the film Les Acadiens de la dispersion, produced by the NFB in 1964. Butler was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada in June 1975. Other songs: "Grain de mil", "Laissez-moi dérouler le soleil", "Je vous aime, ma vie recommence", "C'est beau l'amour", "C'est une chanson d'amour", "Voguer sur des étoiles de mer", "J'étions fille du vent et d'Acadie", "Escarmouche à Restigouche", "Hymne à l'espoir" et "Un million de fois je t'aime".
