Biography
Born Alan Eugene Jackson on October 17th, 1958 in Newman, Georgia, Alan Jackson is an American country music singer-songwriter. He sang in Church as a child and listened primarily to gospel in his youth. He married his high school sweetheart in 1979 and despite a short seperation, they remain together with 3 daughters. They moved to Tennessee in the mid 80’s hoping that Jackson could jumpstart his music career. He got a job in The Nashville Network’s mailroom and met Glen Campbell who helped launch his career. He was the first signee to the Arista Nashville branch of Arista Records. Jackson has recorded 14 studio albums and more than 50 of his singles have appeared on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Of the 50, 25 have been at #1. He is a member of the Grand Ole Opry and an inductee of the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.
